Recent EH graduate Maya Silver is the new Writing Instructor for the University of Utah's Water Center, which conducts interdisciplinary research to increase the security of Earth’s water systems. The Center's core program is the USAID-Funded Pakistan Centers for Advanced Studies in Water wherein the Water Center partners with Mehran University of Engineering and Technology to form collaborative research teams, provide training, and invite students to spend a semester working on their research at the University of Utah.
Maya will be teaching Pakistani graduate engineering students technical and academic writing, and assisting them with their theses, dissertations, and/or business plans. She will also be developing a hybrid course for students in Pakistan to improve their English writing, as well as delivering workshops to Mehran faculty to further empower them to guide their students in academic writing in the English language.
Maya graduated Spring 18 from the Environmental Humanities Program. Her final project Migration Bomb: how climate change will remap our world is an exploration of the potential social, legal, economic future for climate refugees.
