Welcome to Mark SundeeN,  Environmental Humanities Instructor, Spring 2021

We are pleased to announce Mark Sundeen as Visiting Instructor for the Spring 2021 Environmental Humanities Writing Seminar (EHUM 6105). Throughout this nonfiction course, students will engage with the genres of memoir, personal essay, lyric essay, narrative journalism, and travel story. This course is a “workshop for writing prose” which focuses on the 5 basic elements of craft: voice, character, theme, structure and plot.

Mark Sundeen is the author of The Unsettlers, The Man Who Quit Money, The Making of Toro, and Car Camping. A contributing editor for Outside Magazine, his work has been featured in the New York Times, The Believer, and National Geographic Adventure. Sundeen has been awarded fellowships from the Montana Arts Council, Utah Arts Council, and the McDowell Colony.
