Thank you, Mary Dickson!

This fall, we were honored to have Mary Dickson as our Community Practitioner in Residence. Through her dedicated office hours with students, public talk, and workshop, Mary shared her deep knowledge and decades of advocacy for downwinders, leaving a lasting impact on our community. During her time as the practitioner she worked with students on a semester long project to create education materials about nuclear. Reflecting on the student presentations of that project, Environmental Humanities Program Director Danielle Endres shared, "I was blown away by the creative works—poems, blog posts, zines, and Instagram posts—our students produced about the effects from nuclear testing on downwinders, human and nonhuman. The level of care, thoughtfulness, and creativity they brought to connecting with the decades of work that our Practitioner in Residence has done to raise awareness about downwinders is impressive and inspiring. I am grateful to get to work with these students every day!" Mary’s time, knowledge, and unwavering support have been a gift to our program, and we are so grateful for her dedication to our students and her continued fight for justice. Thank you, Mary!
