Welcome, Franque Bains Spring 2025 Community Practitioner in Residence
Franque Bains is the Environmental Humanities Program Spring ‘25 Community Practitioner in Residence. She is Southern California-sprouted and nurtured and grew up in a household where humor brought healing in the most unexpected ways. With tons of good sunshine on her skin and laughter in her bones, she's spent the last 15 years working as an educator and community organizer. Receiving formal education at Claremont Graduate University she earned a master's in mathematics and education and taught for schools in California and Guatemala. She's the chapter director of the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club, a lover of the West, its mountains, the sunsets, and its wildly varying and beautiful ecosystems. She brings a deep respect for the power of collaboration to create solutions. Please welcome Franque to the EH community!
The Community Practitioner-in-Residence program is a semester-long residency funded
by the Mellon Foundation for community leaders who use the tools of humanities and
culture to further environmental and climate justice. Save the date for Franque's community talk on March 18, 2025 at 6p!
