Restfulness in Leadership | Building DreamSpace in Leadership through Rest with Franque Bains, Ashley Finley, and Saundra Stokes

When: Tuesday, March 18, 2025 6-7:30 PM

Where: William R. & Erlyn J. Gould Auditorium, Marriott Library, 295 S 1500 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84112

The University of Utah Environmental Humanities Program extends an open invitation to our campus and community to a conversation on rest, leadership, and how through building teams grounded in the tenets of restfulness and connection, we can enter into creative dream spaces.

What dreams emerge, when we have the courage to rest? Leadership is the work of driving a vision. What if that vision included rest? In contrast to a world where leadership entails sacrificing your body, your relationships, your time, and your freedom, this talk is an invitation to take your body back and do the hard thing of listening to our bodies, protecting our teams, and leaning into the community to build a movement where we are allowed to rest.

During this talk we’ll hold a conversation that will explore the following guiding questions:

What can we collectively build, create, and dream when we have the courage to rest?

How can we hold the complexity to foster leadership that is impactful and responsive, yet restful and connection-centered?

“Rest is anything that connects your mind and body.”  - Tricia Hersey
